My First MLB Game: Watching the Giants vs Dodgers at Oracle Park

Updated: Apr 26, 2025

When I was last in San Francisco, I went to my very first Major League Baseball game. Giants vs Dodgers. One of the biggest rivalries in American sports. And let me tell you… I get the hype now.

The energy at Oracle Park was unreal

Even before the first pitch, the vibe around the stadium was buzzing. Fans in jerseys, the smell of corn dogs and garlic fries (yes, they’re famous), and that view — Oracle Park sits right on the water. It’s such a cool mix of classic American sport and iconic San Francisco scenery.

What it’s like watching baseball in the US

The crowd is part of the experience. People are so into it — cheering, chanting, heckling, and high-fiving total strangers. It’s laid-back and electric all at once. Even if you don’t know the rules (like I didn’t at first), you get swept up in the atmosphere. Plus, they sell beer and giant soft pretzels, so you’re sorted either way.

Hot tip: Go early

I got there just after gates opened so I could soak it all in. You can walk around the stadium, snap pics, grab merch, and eat your way through the food stalls before the game even starts. If you’re into sunsets, find a seat on the upper deck — the view over the bay is next level.

2025 MLB season: Watch from home

If you can’t make it to a game this season, good news — you can now stream Major League Baseball on Disney+. Perfect if you’re planning a trip and want to get into the vibe, or just want to follow along from home.

Thinking about catching a game?

Do it. Even if you’re not a sports fan (yet). There’s something special about seeing a live American game — especially at a ballpark like Oracle. You’ll come away with stories, probably a cap and definitely a new appreciation for baseball.
